My Artistic Journey: Why Do I Specialize in Painting Pets?

I've been a lifelong artist, but my journey into pet portraits began with a heartfelt request from a friend. A few years ago, she shared the news of her cherished dog's passing and asked if I could create a special keepsake painting to memorialize her dog. Honored by the request, I poured my heart and soul into the portrait. When my friend saw the painting, she was overjoyed. She said it looked just like her dog and that I had captured her dog's personality perfectly. That moment was truly special and marked the beginning of my focus on pet portraits.

Dogs have always been a big part of my life, and I currently have four furry companions of my own. My rough coat Jack Russell terrier, Piper, is featured in the photo (above). Additionally, I truly understand the anatomy of animals and hold a Master of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Houston at Clear Lake, where I also took several graduate-level painting courses as part of my degree. Combining my knowledge of animal anatomy with my passion for painting, I strive to create exceptional portraits that "wow" my clients. Each portrait is not just a painting but a heartfelt tribute to the bond between a pet and its owner.

My goal is to bring joy and happiness to people's lives through my art. Hearing someone laugh or seeing them fight back happy tears when they see their pet portrait for the first time is everything to me. I believe that art equals pure joy, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share that joy with others through my paintings.
